Solidarity and Democracy in the streets

Marches, demonstrations and protests against the dictatorship in the streets of European cities were some of the most emblematic means of publicly expressing solidarity to the Greek people and raising awareness about the situation in Greece. Large or small, loud or silent, these protests were mostly held outside Greek embassies or other sites of Greek interest, aiming at maximum publicity and coverage. This selection of photographs depicts various such moments of spontaneous protest and organised expressions of solidarity taking place in a multitude of cities and countries across Europe and America.
